This weekends prospect watch👊 - ONE Championship Friday Fights 46.
GM fight fans! Welcome to this weekend's prospect watch. While the MMA schedule is relatively light this weekend, we still have an exciting ONE Championship card to look forward to. So, without further ado, let's dive into it. 👊
ONE CHAMPIONSHIP FRIDAY FIGHTS 46
🇹🇭Nong-O vs Nico Carrillo🏴
Nong-O (left) and Nico Carrillo (Right)
In the upcoming ONE Championship card, we have our eyes set on the bout between Muay Thai legend Nong-O (3-1 ONE) and the young Scottish prospect Nico Carrillo (2-0 ONE). Nong-O, a living legend in the world of Muay Thai, faces the dangerous and aggressive Nico Carrillo in a bantamweight Muay Thai clash.
Nong-O, a former ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai World Champion, has achieved almost every major accolade in Muay Thai and is widely regarded as one of the greatest strikers of all time. Although he surrendered his belt to Jonathan Haggerty in April 2023, Nong-O is undoubtedly determined to bounce back from that setback.
On the other side, Scottish knockout artist Nico Carrillo has displayed his devastating power with crushing knockout wins over Furkan Karabag and Muangthai PK Saenchai. His performances earned him a coveted US$100,000 contract and a spot in ONE's main roster, instantly placing him in the top-five rankings. 💰️
For Nong-O to secure victory, he must gain confidence early, control the pace, and avoid falling victim to Nico's aggressive and long-range striking. Nong-O, being one of the best in the sport, needs to utilize all his weapons against the young challenger.
Nico Carrillo, aiming for the upset, should keep the fight at his preferred distance, using his long frame and heavy kicks to control the range. Leveraging his powerful boxing, as seen in Nong-O's vulnerability to such strikes in his previous fight with Jonathan Haggerty, could be a key factor for Nico. 👊
As for the Cage Chronicle’s prediction, we anticipate a win for the young challenger Nico Carrillo, securing a knockout victory in the second round. 🔮
Seksan Or Kwannmuang (Left) vs River Daz (Right)
Another intriguing matchup in the ONE Championship card is the 140-pound Muay Thai clash between Thai legend Seksan (7-0 ONE) and the emerging talent River Daz (1-1 ONE). Seksan, boasting an impressive 7-0 record for the year, recently secured a victory against Karim Bennoui and aims to extend his streak to 8, potentially positioning himself for a title shot. 🏆️
River Daz, a former WMC Australian Muay Thai champion, brings a diverse combat background, having also competed in the Australian regional boxing scene. His ONE Championship journey started with a remarkable win against Nonthakit Tor Morsri, taking the fight on short notice and securing a unanimous decision against the Thai fighter.
Seksan, known for his relentless aggression, faces a different challenge in the form of River Daz. Daz possesses excellent footwork, evasive skills, and powerful counters. His style, focused on picking off opponents who march forward, sets the stage for an interesting clash with Seksan. 👊
While Seksan is a hard-headed slugger who has proven difficult to outlast, Daz's unique skill set adds an element of unpredictability to the matchup. The Thai veteran will need to balance his trademark aggression with strategic intelligence against the elusive Daz.
For the Cage Chronicle’s prediction, we anticipate a hard-fought battle with Seksan ultimately securing the win by decision. 🔮
