This weekends fight night recap👊 - UFC 296, Cage Warriors 165.

GM fight fans, and welcome to this weekends fight recap, What a weekend it was with the last UFC card of the year UFC 296 and one of the best cards of the year also. We also had Cage Warriors 165 in San Diego which was a great card, so with our further ramble lets get into it. 👊

UFC 296
🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿Leon Edwards vs Colby Covington🇺🇸

The main event at UFC 296 lived up to its billing, featuring an intense welterweight title clash between Leon Edwards and Colby Covington. The initial round defied expectations, with both fighters adopting a measured approach. Colby, typically an aggressive starter, surprisingly allowed Edwards to dictate the pace, hinting at a tactical strategy.

The second round showcased Edwards' strategic brilliance. While systematically targeting Colby's front leg, Edwards displayed versatility by surprising everyone with a takedown. This unexpected move further solidified his control of the fight. Despite the anticipation of a more aggressive Colby, signs of ring rust persisted, enabling Edwards to control the exchanges. 🤼

As the fight unfolded, Edwards demonstrated his well-rounded skills, thwarting Colby's takedown attempts with ease. The championship rounds accentuated Colby's struggles, exacerbated by apparent leg issues, limiting his explosiveness.

In the fifth and final round, Colby aimed for a resurgence, but Edwards remained composed, effectively defending takedowns and countering. The fight concluded with Colby in top position, but the overall decision was clear.

The judges unanimously scored the bout in favor of Leon Edwards (49-36, 49-46, 49-46). Edwards not only retained his welterweight title but also matched Georges St-Pierre's illustrious win streak.🏆️

The Cage Chronicle's foresight proved accurate, as the predicted decisive victory for Leon Edwards materialized, reinforcing the credibility of the crystal ball's predictions. 🔮

UFC 296
🇧🇷Alexandre Pantoja vs Brandon Royval🇺🇸

The co-main event at UFC 296 delivered five thrilling rounds of action in the flyweight title clash between Alexandre Pantoja and Brandon Royval. This one was 5 rounds of WAR.

From the opening bell, the champion, Pantoja, set a relentless pace. Despite an early takedown attempt thwarted by Royval, Pantoja showcased his striking prowess with powerful punches and well-placed kicks.

The ground game proved to be Pantoja's domain once again, as he asserted control over Royval in grappling exchanges. A notable moment in the second round saw Pantoja wobbling Royval with a right hand before securing dominance on the mat, securing another round in his favour. 🤼

The third round brought some resurgence from the challenger, Royval, who capitalized on a fatigued Pantoja with a well-timed flying knee. However, Pantoja quickly regained control, shifting the momentum back in his favor.

In the fourth round, Pantoja actively sought a submission to conclude the fight. Although Royval briefly secured top position, Pantoja's overall dominance prevailed. 👊

The fifth round saw moments of excitement from Royval, stunning the champion briefly. However, Pantoja responded decisively with another takedown, securing a clear path to his decision victory.

With this win, Pantoja joins the select few who have successfully defended the flyweight title, navigating a division marked by frequent turnover at the top.

In a testament to the Cage Chronicle's predictive accuracy, our foresight once again proved on point, correctly anticipating Alexandre Pantoja's triumph. The crystal ball shines bright with another accurate prediction. 🔮

UFC 296
🇰🇿 Shavkat Rakhmonov vs Stephen Thompson 🇺🇸

The welterweight bout between Shavkat Rakhmonov and Stephen Thompson at UFC 296 showcased a tactical and methodical approach from the undefeated welterweight sensation. 👊

The opening round saw Rakhmonov seeking control, pressing Thompson against the fence in an attempt to bring the fight to the ground. While not the most crowd-pleasing strategy, Rakhmonov effectively landed short hooks to Thompson's face, demonstrating control. A late burst of action saw Thompson breaking free and landing a solid body kick, closing out the round. 🦵

The second round saw Thompson utilizing his striking with a barrage of kicks and a well-placed overhand right. Unfazed, Rakhmonov initiated a takedown, mirroring the first round's strategy. This time, Rakhmonov succeeded in taking Thompson to the ground and worked diligently to secure a rear-naked choke. Despite Thompson's efforts to resist, Rakhmonov's ground control proved dominant. In a clinical display of technique, Rakhmonov secured the rear-naked choke just before the round's end, prompting Thompson to tap.

While not a flashy victory, Rakhmonov's calculated approach showcased high-level grappling and strategic prowess. The win positions Rakhmonov for potential contention in the welterweight division, possibly earning him a shot at champion Leon Edwards. 🏆️

Once again, the Cage Chronicle's foresight proved accurate, correctly predicting a submission victory for Shavkat Rakhmonov. The crystal ball remains sharp with another spot-on prediction. 🔮
