Kicking off our weekend coverage is the main event from Cage Warriors 164 in Newcastle, featuring a showdown for the vacant bantamweight title between Englishman Liam Gittins and Scotsman Reece McEwan. This bout had generated significant buzz, and it certainly lived up to the hype 🔥

The fight unfolded over a grueling five rounds, with Gittins showcasing dominance in the opening rounds by taking McEwan to the ground and delivering some powerful shots. Gittins' striking prowess led to a cut above McEwan's eyebrow early in the contest.

As the fight progressed into the later rounds, both fighters engaged in striking exchanges, but McEwan struggled to keep up with Gittins' relentless pace. In the end, it was a tough defeat for McEwan, as Gittins outworked him throughout the entire bout, rightfully claiming the bantamweight world title 🏆

Contrary to the Cage Chronicle's prediction, we missed the mark on this one, as our bet was on McEwan to emerge victorious Sometimes, the unpredictability of the fight game keeps us on our toes!

CAGE WARRIORS 164
🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿Mick Stanton vs Dario Bellandi🇮🇹

Remaining at Cage Warriors 164, the co-main event featured a clash for the middleweight world title, pitting the reigning champion Mick Stanton against the promising Italian talent, Dario Bellandi. The bout presented a tough choice between siding with the seasoned champion's experience or the fresh vigor of the up-and-coming youth, making it an intriguing matchup.

The fight unfolded as a gritty back-and-forth affair, showcasing a well-rounded display of skills from both fighters. With success in the grappling exchanges and proficiency in striking, it proved to be an exciting spectacle for the viewers.

In the end, the judges rendered a unanimous decision in favor of Dario Bellandi, crowning him the new Cage Warriors middleweight champion 🏆️. The victory marked a significant achievement for the young Italian.

As for the Cage Chronicle's prediction, we placed our bet on the young Italian to emerge triumphant, and our crystal ball was on point 🧙

PFL WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP
🇨🇦Olivier Aubin-Mercier vs Clay Collard🇺🇸

Now, let's shift our focus to the main event of the PFL World Championship card, featuring the 2023 PFL lightweight champion Olivier Aubin-Mercier against the seasoned MMA veteran Clay Collard.

In Round 1, Aubin-Mercier set the tone by dominating the canvas, leaving Collard scrambling for offense as the defending champion asserted control.

Round 2 witnessed a continuation of Aubin-Mercier's ground control, preventing Collard from gaining any momentum or launching an effective offensive 👊

Despite Aubin-Mercier facing challenges with his lead leg in Round 3, he managed to take the fight back to the canvas, where he could dictate the pace. Collard, making a late surge, returned to his feet, applying pressure in the hopes of turning the tide as they headed into the fourth round.

Round 4 saw Collard seizing control, exploiting Aubin-Mercier's struggles with his lead leg and preventing him from executing takedowns. With momentum on his side, Collard headed into the fifth round with the wind in his sails.

In Round 5, with the fight potentially hanging in the balance, Collard couldn't prevent an early takedown by Aubin-Mercier within the first 12 seconds. Aubin-Mercier, actively seeking a submission, thwarted any hopes of a Collard rally. Aubin-Mercier secured victory with a trio of 49-46 scorecards, claiming his second $1 million title 💰️

As for the Cage Chronicle’s prediction, our mystical powers were on point, as we correctly foresaw Olivier Aubin-Mercier emerging victorious in this title clash. Another win for the crystal ball 🔮

PFL WOLRD CHAMPIONSHIP
🇷🇺Denis Goltsov vs Renan Ferriera🇧🇷

In the co-main event of the PFL World Championship card, the heavyweight clash between Russian powerhouse Denis Goltsov and Brazilian giant Renan Ferriera promised fireworks, and it indeed delivered 👊

The early stages saw Goltsov securing a takedown, putting Ferreira in a precarious position as he defended against kimura attempts and even an Ezekiel choke. While Goltsov managed to advance to mount, he couldn't secure the submission, allowing Ferreira to get a restart on his feet.

Ferreira, eager to avoid another ground exchange, came out swinging for the knockout in the subsequent rounds. The climactic moment came when Ferreira connected with a barrage of powerful right hands, securing the knockout victory and claiming the PFL World Championship title.

Despite the Cage Chronicle's prediction veering off course, as we anticipated a win for Denis Goltsov , the unpredictable nature of the fight game often leaves even the most astute predictions in the dust. Another reminder that in the world of MMA, anything can happen
